1. Strengths
• Availability of academicians experienced in underwater studies
• Ability to easily cooperate with the Private Sector and other official institutions and organizations
• In terms of geographical location, it is unique on the North Aegean and South Marmara coasts.
• The center has a facility at the Dardanos Campus that can carry out marine activities.
• Availability of ships suitable for diving within the university

2. Weaknesses
• Lack of underwater equipment and imaging devices belonging to the centre.
• There is no administrative staff to carry out correspondence and quality studies.
• The center does not have any budget
• Difficulty in supplying underwater equipment as they are expensive and wear out quickly.

3. Opportunities
• There are many underwater parks and diving spots in the region.
• The center's facility is located on the seashore
• Our country and the city we are located in are in a strategic position in terms of underwater studies.

4. Threats
• The region is vulnerable to threats such as pollution (mucilage) from the Marmara Sea and poisonous and dangerous species.
• Ship traffic increases day by day
• The region is open to prevailing winds
• Limited financial resources to keep up with rapid changes in technology and to constantly improve itself.
